Law Student of the yearThe 15th Annual Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards is the premier legal event of the year. This prestigious event recognises individual excellence in the law, from the profession’s most senior ranks to its rising stars. It also celebrates trailblazers in legal business that have challenged traditional models and found a better way to practice law.

The Australian Law Awards brings together some of Australia’s finest legal talent – from the brightest law student all the way up to the most dynamic managing partner.
The list of finalists represents 100 firms, including some of the biggest names in law as well as exciting newcomers from over 300 submissions across 24 categories.

sean-rLawfunder is proud to announce that our founder, Sean Roche has been named as a finalist for Law Student of the Year. This exciting news builds upon our previous announcement that Lawfunder has been selected to present in Dublin at the internationally renowned Web Summit as part of the ALPHA Program for new innovative technology startups.

When asked what makes him passionate about pursuing a career in the law, Sean answered:

I’m passionate about helping people because I know that when people come to see a lawyer is when they need help the most. I see my legal education as a privilege that isn’t afforded to everyone – therefore I feel a duty to share it with those who need legal help.

Sean completed a Bachelor of Business Management at the University of Queensland, a Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology and is now currently studying his Postgraduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law. With over six years of full-time tertiary study, it is clear that Sean places an importance on education.

I decided upon a career in the legal industry to provide myself entry to a sector which I know I can never truly be a master of – at least, in every aspect. The vast nature of the various specialisations within the legal industry means that I’ll always be able to expand on my knowledge over time and never ‘hit the ceiling’.

Winners of the Australian Law Awards will be announced at a black tie dinner in Sydney on Thursday, 17 September 2015 – secure your tickets by visiting the Lawyers Weekly booking page now.

Lawfunder congratulates all finalists.
